FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our answers to common questions, plus insights about our services and approach.

  • HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
    Sessions are 50 minutes in length. Then last 10 minutes therapist use time for treatment planning and documentation.
  • HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO BE IN THERAPY?
    How long you are in therapy depends on your concerns and what you want to change. Short-term therapy is considered 4 to 12 sessions and is workable for several goals. Long-term therapy is 15 or more sessions and is more appropriate for more challenging life concerns.
  • WHAT TYPE OF THERAPY DO YOU USE?
    We use a range of therapeutic modalities, and the specific ones used are carefully tailored to your individual needs within your personalized treatment plan.
  • HOW WILL YOU HELP ME?
    First, we will conduct an initial assessment and determine treatment plan goals. Then, we will work together collaboratively to build a relationship and work on those goals that you want to achieve. There will be skill-building, some homework, and processing of present and past concerns. We will go at a pace you are comfortable with to ease the stress in your life.
  • DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON SESSIONS?
    We offer virtual, phone and in-person sessions.
  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
    We require 48 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment.
  • HOW FREQUENTLY ARE SESSIONS TYPICALLY SCHEDULED?
    When beginning therapy, weekly or biweekly appointments are scheduled initially, depending upon the concerns and level of crisis. Clients are seen at minimum biweekly for a few months, then switch to monthly. This will be discussed when determining your goals in therapy with your therapist.
  • CAN I CONTACT YOU BETWEEN SESSIONS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR IF I NEED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT?
    We don't provide crisis services. In an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Additionally, you can call 988 if feeling suicidal or having self harm or crisis thoughts. We will follow up with these events and challenges at your next appointment and implement a safety plan if required, to continue to help you with your goals.
  • WHAT IS THE COST?
    Sessions are billed according to the therapist’s years of experience. Currently, the intern psychotherapist rate is $80. Erin is a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying and her rate is $130. Melissa is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 21 years experience and her rate is $160. We also have limited sliding scale spots for each psychotherapist.
  • DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
    Most insurance companies provide coverage for psychotherapy. Please check with your insurance company to confirm your coverage for interns, RPQ and RP status. Several companies offer direct billing through Telus eClaims, Greenshield, Blue Cross Blue Shield or NIHB. Some offer reimbursement after the client has paid. At your session you will receive your receipt to submit to your insurance company.
  • DO YOU OFFER REDUCED RATES?
    We have an intern program that offers reduced rates. Please book a consultation for further information.
