Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes reserved for the therapist to plan and document your treatment progress.
Therapy duration varies based on your needs and goals. Short-term therapy often lasts between 4 to 12 sessions, focusing on specific objectives. Long-term therapy, spanning 15 or more sessions, is ideal for addressing more complex challenges.
We use a range of therapeutic modalities, and the specific ones used are carefully tailored to your individual needs within your personalized treatment plan.
Your therapy journey begins with an initial assessment to identify your goals. Together, we’ll create a collaborative plan to address these goals. You can expect skill-building exercises, occasional homework, and discussions about current and past challenges. We’ll progress at a pace that feels comfortable for you, aiming to reduce stress and promote healing.
We offer virtual, phone and in-person sessions.
We require 48 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment.
Therapy sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly at the start, depending on your needs and level of urgency. After a few months, sessions may transition to monthly. Your therapist will discuss and tailor the schedule based on your therapy goals.
We don't provide crisis services. In an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Additionally, you can call 988 if feeling suicidal or having self harm or crisis thoughts. We will follow up with these events and challenges at your next appointment and implement a safety plan if required, to continue to help you with your goals.
Therapy session costs depend on the therapist’s experience. Rates start at $80 for intern psychotherapists, $130 for Erin (Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying), and $160 for Melissa (Registered Psychotherapist with over 21 years of expertise). Limited sliding scale options are also available.
Yes, most insurance companies cover psychotherapy. Please verify with your insurance provider regarding coverage for interns, RPQ, and RP status. Some companies offer direct billing through Telus eClaims, Greenshield, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or NIHB, while others provide reimbursement after payment. You'll receive a receipt at your session to submit to your insurance company.
Yes, we offer reduced rates through our intern program. Book a consultation to learn more about this option.
