Sessions are 50 minutes in length. Then last 10 minutes therapist use time for treatment planning and documentation.
The duration of therapy depends on your concerns and goals. Short-term therapy typically lasts 4 to 12 sessions and can address several goals. Long-term therapy, which is 15 or more sessions, is suited for more complex life issues.
We use a range of therapeutic modalities, and the specific ones used are carefully tailored to your individual needs within your personalized treatment plan.
We start with an initial assessment to set your treatment goals. Together, we'll build a collaborative relationship to work on these goals. Expect skill-building, some homework, and processing of current and past concerns. We'll move at a pace that feels right for you to help ease your stress.
We offer virtual, phone and in-person sessions.
We require 48 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment.
When beginning therapy, weekly or biweekly appointments are scheduled initially, depending upon the concerns and level of crisis. Clients are seen at minimum biweekly for a few months, then switch to monthly. This will be discussed when determining your goals in therapy with your therapist.
We don't provide crisis services. In an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Additionally, you can call 988 if feeling suicidal or having self harm or crisis thoughts. We will follow up with these events and challenges at your next appointment and implement a safety plan if required, to continue to help you with your goals.
The cost of therapy sessions varies based on the therapist's experience. Our intern psychotherapist rate is $80. Erin, a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying, charges $130. Melissa, a Registered Psychotherapist with over 21 years of experience, charges $160. We also offer limited sliding scale spots for each therapist.
Yes, most insurance companies cover psychotherapy. Please verify with your insurance provider regarding coverage for interns, RPQ, and RP status. Some companies offer direct billing through Telus eClaims, Greenshield, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or NIHB, while others provide reimbursement after payment. You'll receive a receipt at your session to submit to your insurance company.
